Michael Moore, when interviewed by Papa Larry King- the Ageless CNN achorman, last week, talked much about how capitalism has destroyed the core values of the American Society. I was moved by the interview and I did connect his talk about America with what is presently happening in other parts of the world especially Africa. Using or citing America as a classic example of how money talks and how the same pursuit of money ruins a country like it has done to Nigeria. America is still better in every aspect of capitalism, corruption and oppression of countries. In America when politicians or their cohorts steal money, they do not go to other countries to keep their loots, their loots often remain and circulate within America. But in Africa especially, Nigeria when money is stolen, it finds its way easily to the same America and Britain, who are funding anti-corruption. How justifiable has fighting corruption been all these while? There has been less progress in fighting corruption when compared to billions of dollars sunk by various bilateral and multilateral institutions to reduce or eradicate corruption.
Corruption has become a global disease which could only be cured when those countries who claim that they have all it takes to eradicate corruption globally stop encouraging looted money into their banks. They are still encouraging those corrupt in developing countries to keep their looted public money in their banks. This is fighting corruption has become a tall order.
Fighting corruption all along was made very academic. This was why those who are highly educated use their pens and position not only to rob the peoples' treasuries but to destroy the Nation State and impoverish the people. The current way of corruption in Nigeria is very alarming. This need to be stopped immediately in all areas. The country needs to move ahead.
